The European Space Agency (ESA) MetOp-SG is a meteorological satellite program utilizing polar orbiting to provide continuous weather forecast in the 2024-2045 timeframe. The MetOp-SG constellation includes six spacecraft with three of model A and another three of model B. Model A carries optical instruments and atmospheric sounds while Model B carries microwave instruments. The first satellite is slated for launch into polar orbit in 2024.
